Flores Island is one of several Islands in East Nusa Tenggara province. It stretches between east longitudes of 118° and 125°, and between south latitudes of 8° and 11°. The Province covers an area of 49,880 square kilometers. It is populated by 3,500,000 people.

Flores island is one of the three main Islands. The three main islands are Flores, Sumba and Timor from which comes an abbreviation of FLOBAMOR. The total island belonging to the Province is 566 islands. This amount includes numerous small Islets which are not inhabited and do not have names yet.

In addition, the Geologist divides East Nusa Tenggara into two zones; a volcanic inner curve which formed the islands of Rinca, Komodo, Flores, Alor, Pantar, Adonara, Lembata and Solor; which have fertile soils; and an outer curve of limestone and rock formation that made up of Sumba, Sabu, Rote, Semau, and Timor.
